The main objective of the project is to identify, through repurposing studies, well-known molecules with an optimal safety profile and with market approval for different indications, which have as a new molecular target the endogenous enzymes responsible for the degradation of endocannabinoids: monoacylglycerol-lipase and fatty acid amide hydrolase. Inhibition of these enzymes plays an essential role in inhibiting the nociceptive process. The molecules identified as their inhibitors in this project may represent new therapeutic agents useful in the treatment of chronic pain.
